The Dark Skies are Behind Us

Well what can I say, cranky, bitchy, taking a strip off of everyone including my friends, let`s just say I always had that problem, a short fuse.....

The BC Liberal leadership race has become a complete spectacle, a comedy of errors and now for some, desperation and a hail Mary pass, I` ll  come back to Cluck Cluck Clark in a moment, Mike De Jong, rumours are saying Mike De Jong has incredible sign up numbers and could surprise a few in the leadership race, apparently his support is concentrated with Indo Canadian members.......I find the thought of Mike De Jong ever becoming premier amusing, I remember De Jong trying to explain away BC Rail plea, the story changed more often than a new baby`s diaper, slow methodical word choosing from De Jong that changed every day, De Jong is the master of speaking without saying anything.....De Jong is running third.....

Remember the media freaking out about Adrian Dix and his memberships......The NDP sign up ended early to give all candidates a chance to woo over new and existing NDP members, also a chance for party renewal and it worked, 12,000 members to nearly 30 thousand members, various groups bringing in many new members, the short cut off time actually prevents cheating, Dix may have skirted the rules but that`s OK, karma will bite Dix, there are more than enough long term NDP members to make the difference in a one member one vote contest, all potential leaders need help from the others to win, let the best man win..

Kevin Falcon has corporate friends advertising on their web sites for him, in fact even a contact lens maker has emailed clients asking them to join the party and vote for Kevin, my impression of Falcon`s campaign is one of curiosity, the Falcon strategy is one of power, corporate power, heavyweights in the BC Liberal party, mining, banking, food and industry.....As a power play Kevin Falcon has destroyed his competition, if the prize was only the BC Liberal leadership and not premier of British Columbia Kevin would already be crowned....There is only one problem, the public despise Falcon and it`s just nature, Falcon can`t be turned into charm or warmth, he will remain a frog not kissed .....A very difficult choice for members, Falcon wins the battle, Falcon loses the war...

George Abbott, that`s the buzz, with the weighted system the BC Liberals are adopting in their nomination process has George over the top, and as a partisan nothing pleases me more, I have so many mental pictures of Abbott in the House grinning and laughing and talking about ferries when asked about hospital closures, his demeanor, that smarmy grin on his face, I can`t imagine an easier candidate to beat, Abbott, like Falcon are too connected to the Campbell Liberals, Falcon to business and Abbott to the old guard, the problem is all their MLAs are guilty by association, Abbott could win with 30 new MLAs but he can`t save their motely crew, nobody can carry the BC Liberal baggage across the finish line, whoever becomes Liberal leader and premier will be nothing but a blip in time, maybe that blip in time is enough for some candidates...

Christy Clark, well if you haven`t heard the bad news let me be the first to tell you, the Clark election team have resorted to throwing the hail Mary pass, that`s right, desperation has set in, the new sensation turned out to be a bust, the word out there is...Christy can`t convert the base, she doesn`t have the numbers, fascinating, the most likely candidate to have any chance in hell out of beating the NDP(Still would be a long shot) but with BC Rail dogging her and the Conservative base in that party, if Clark wins the BC Liberal leadership the party severs and it`s a guaranteed NDP win....Yet Clark is the only one with enough charm to fool the public, or does she..

Today, at about  3:08 pm.....On CKNW.......Here`s the deal, Christy Clark has no MLA support, yet Christy Clark is Gordon Campbell`s preferred successor, interesting, ....Clark can`t win, there are roughly 50,000 Liberal members, Clark has maxed out and is well short of votes, she can`t win, or can she...

All the media rabble about the NDP sign up, the BC Liberals have had a tainted sign up going on for a month, and it`s still going on, Christy Clark can`t win unless....Unless by hook or by crook she finds new members, $10 dollars and 10 minutes and you are a member....I guarantee you folks that there will be a membership sign up dispute among the BC Liberals before anything gets decided....

Where was I...Oh...I just heard another ad for Christy Clark on CKNW.....The first ad had Pamela Martin saying...

Hi, I`m Pamela Martin, I just joined my first political party, for $10 dollars and 10 minutes you too can join the BC Liberal party and vote for Christy, Christy is for families and change......

Then of course  the disclaimer follows the ad..

This was a paid ad authorized by financial agent so in so of the Christy Clark campaign.

cknw audio vault here, cue up January/24th/3:00pm...(3:08ish)

And I just heard a second ad on CKNW for Chrity Clark, 10 minutes and $10 dollars you can join the BC Liberals and vote for Christy Clark, this ad was in Christy`s voice saying the same thing...I haven`t heard any other candidate from either side besides Christy Clark that stooped to that level....The only reason Christy is running ads is...... She must get by hook or by crook more new members to vote for her and.....

And near the end when desperation reaches a frenzied peak some candidate with more money than brains will find a way for new memberships to come in, when a speech, an ad, a idea, when nothing else will work to turn a candidate`s fortune around.........When nothing else works and when it comes down to memberships.....Mischief will occur!

Personally friends, the media mocked the NDP about membership and new member rules, the 90 day cut off...The NDP way is much fairer to long standing members, their voice and vote isn`t drowned out by a low brow Christy Clark type move, the attempt to flood the room with memberships....

I am not too sure about the ethics, but for CKNW to be running paid leadership ads on Christy Clark, in her voice, in Pamela Martin`s voice, almost begging for people to visit her site, whip out the credit card and join, ...And if you missed it..... A rather suspect story  was on CKNW news last night, Sunday night...This is almost unbelievable...

Last night on CKNW radio news, played more than once, ....I`m paraphrasing here

..Christy Clark`s web site has been hit by hackers, the hackers are apparently from Tunisia, there is shouting and singing....The Clark Campaign are unsure why the Tunisians have hacked into her site, the links still work and the team expects to clear the web site soon....Blab blab blab...I heard nothing about it today...To me...It appears Christy Clark is using her Pamela Martin shill and her name and CKNW to help her chances in a very tacky way....And what better way to get news listeners to a web site than by telling listeners Christy Clark`s web site has been hacked by Tunisian anarchists!

Only to start on the very next day on cknw a series of tacky ads begging for membership sign ups...And redirecting them to the very same Tunisian hijacked Christy Clark web site.....Me thinks somebody playing games.

Abbott has a passive face and personality but he is a through and through BCLiberal nut. He recently came out proclaiming Heed as one of his best friends with his full support. Gross.

How can the people bear, the BC Liberals until 2013? They are a sentence of death, for the province and the people. Where are the jobs, the HST was to produce? BC has the highest job losses, in the entire country. Where is the money, Campbell and Hansen said we would save, by the HST, the cost of living, has gone up through the roof. BC has lost billions, because of the HST. BC people shop in the U.S.A. and Alberta. BC's HST, doesn't even stay in BC, Campbell gave our HST to Harper. That's the last we have seen of that tax. The Liberal candidates, all supported Campbell, not one of them is any better than he is. Campbell and the Liberals, are all about, lies, deceit, corruption, greed, theft, dirty tactics, and low enough to, cheat to win. How many BC ministers have been under investigation, since Campbell's time in office? Not one of the candidates, have one saving grace, among the lot of them. All the BC people have to look forward to, is more of the same crap.

Scottish comedian Billy Connolly had a three part journey across Northern Canada from Newfoundland across the Arctic and down through British Columbia.
Shown on Knowledge network the documentary soon became kind of depressing. Travelling down through B.C...Connolly said "The trees are diseased..the salmon runs gone..wildlife threatened..I got kind of down wondering..am I in a place that`s dying?"

I think he was...the last 10 years of these evil people has been like a pestilence.

Many years ago in the National Gallery in Ottawa
I viewed a neon sculpture by Dan Flavin..I`ll never forget it..it was simply a bank of pale green neon tubes with a small red light at it`s center pulsing slowly, faintly like a heartbeat...the piece was titled
"Ireland Dying".

To Boxcar Bob,
Wow! I have never seen that! that is downright disheartening but really it's all around us isn't it. we can't see the forest for the trees and for an ifinitely funny man to make that remark about our beautiful B.C. saddens me...

Hey Bob
Don`t mean to dishearten..but yeah...the show started out really really good..Connolly very warm, personable and fun with all and sundry he came into contact with...interesting to see Northern Canada through his eyes. But yeah..as the show progressed it became darker ..the trip down through B.C. from the North was depressing though I don`t think Connolly intended it to be..he`s pretty honest, observant and thats pretty much as he said it...that Scottish brogue.. "Am I in a place thats dyin`!"

Another quote...watching a parade in Nova Scotia at the beginning of his journey..a squad of R.C.M.P in red serge marching past " Ahhh the uniform to die for!"
He was pretty amused by all the Scottish regalia and pipe bands etc; said they had nothing nearly as Scottish in Scotland.

Keep the fires burning

Thanks B, that's what makes Connelly, or any other great comedian funny. The brutal honesty! If it weren't funny it'd be sad!...Keep smilin'
